Associate Professor Tania Pizzari opens the international rehabilitation clinic in Nanjing
The first Australian specialist posted to Nanjing under the joint programme ran the MDT clinic from 23 March and assessed the Nanjing squad ahead of the Jiangsu league.
Associate Professor Tania Pizzari was the first specialist posted to Nanjing under the joint rehabilitation programme between IRI and Nanjing Hospital of Chinese Medicine (Nanjing Sports Hospital). She is an Associate Professor and Senior Research Fellow at La Trobe University, a former chief team physician of FC Barcelona, and chair of the scientific advisory committee of Sports Medicine Australia.
Her clinic — the International (Australia–China) Sports Rehabilitation MDT Clinic — ran on weekday mornings from 23 March to 3 April 2026 at the hospital’s specialist consulting suite.
On the afternoon of 2 April, at the invitation of the hospital’s sports medicine specialists, she travelled to the Nanjing Sports Training Centre to assess players from the city squad preparing for the Jiangsu league.
Under the programme, a team of four to five Australian sports medicine specialists rotates through the hospital between March and November each year, supporting clinical work, rehabilitation and joint research.
