Professor Connie Chang is a member of the US National Academy of Engineering and a foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
The company she founded has commercialised decades of research into VCSEL — vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser — technology. Sensing built on that technology is one of the areas we are watching for medical and sports applications, where it could pair with AI-based movement assessment.
